Artists’ Book
Brady Marks and Mark Timmings continue their creative investigation of the ṮEḴTEḴSEN marsh soundscape with a new artists’ book published by Figure 1. Wetland Project: Sound, Ecology and Post-Geographical Art includes contributions from William Gibson, Elizabeth May, Susan McMaster, Stephen Morris, Alex Muir, Philip Kevin Paul, Dylan Robinson, Hildegard Westerkamp and Laurie White, with photographs by Nancy Angermeyer. The book’s synesthetic design combines sound-to-colour visualizations and an audio interface accessed using smartphones and tablets, giving it a music box-like quality. It is a model of environmentally-sustainable, carbon-neutral production, using 100% recycled stock and the latest clean printing technology.
